I just loved working with this little guy! Thank you Amy for this opportunity! Colton was full of smiles, coos and was just watching me work with such curiosity. Colton came into the studio for his session around 9 weeks new. We had a more of a lifestyle session, letting Colton move his little arms and kick his legs out.
He is so cute!
Though he is an older newborn, I was still able to get great portrait images of him. And if you like wide awake and great eye contact, this age was perfect. I was able to swaddle him for safety, getting him to sleep a little for the prop setups. He did great for all of it.
It was a nice change to switch up my style of shooting from a newborn (under 2 weeks old) to a little older newborn. I loved the experience and meeting Colton and his sweet mama. He had already developed a little personality and it was so cheerful.
I loved that I was able to use my moon prop for his session. The large moon is nearly 3 foot tall painted blue on one side and pale moon yellow on the other. It worked out perfectly, because mama requested yellow! Along with the moon, I made a fishing pole prop, complete with fish, for him to hold while on the moon. Again, another interest for their family. The finished image reminded me the little DreamWorks boy.
Newborn sessions are great way to take us back to the start of our family. Our babies grow up way too fast. It's such a beautiful journey watching them grow, but to be able to go back just by looking at the newborn art hanging on the wall, that is the investment you made in your sweet baby. It's love at first sight all over again.
